Repair Your Computer In 5 Steps

Step 1: Clean the Windows Registry
One of the first steps that even many experienced computer technicians perform is to scan and repair registry errors. The reason being, that the accumulation of loads of obsolete, unwanted, and invalid information in the registry damages it, and a damaged registry slows down your PC and generates several computer errors.
The best and the simplest way to fix registry errors is to use a registry cleaner tool. A registry cleaner automates the process of scanning and repairing the registry. The tool also enables you to perform other registry maintenance tasks such as defrag the registry to consolidate its files and speed up data access and regularly back up the registry so that you can easily restore it if your current registry fails.

Step 2: Perform Antivirus and Antispyware Scan
If your computer slows down or you start experiencing computer errors all of a sudden, then it is quite likely that your PC is infected by a malware program, such as a virus, Trojan, worm, spyware, or adware. These malicious programs add several infected files and processes on your system and the registry, infect your application files, alter registry entries and generate several errors on the system. Spyware programs steal your personal and confidential data and transmit it to external sources for malicious purposes. A lot of information gathered by spyware is used by affiliate websites that use this information to display popup ads —adware—on your PC.
To fix and prevent these infections, you must regularly perform full system scans using reliable antivirus and antispyware tools. Keep the real-time protection of these tools turned on and update them regularly to ensure that your PC is protected against the latest threats. Also, you may run a registry scan to weed out any left over entries added by malicious programs.

Step 3: Uninstall Unwanted Toolbars and Programs
As your PC gets older, it gets filled up with several programs that you no longer use. Your Internet Explorer may also become slow due to installation of several unwanted plug-in toolbars. Although these add-on toolbars are useful, too many of them just slow down your Web browsing speed. Additionally, there are some toolbars, such as the Mirar toolbar that are actually spyware and they display adware on your PC without your consent. All these programs and toolbars unnecessarily deteriorate the performance of your PC and generate errors on the PC.
Therefore, to keep your PC in good health, it is important to uninstall unwanted toolbars and programs from the system using legitimate processes. If you are uninstalling spyware programs or toolbars, it is recommended that you run an antispyware scan after the uninstallation is complete. You may also run a registry scan after this to ensure complete removal of unwanted toolbars and programs.

Step 4: Update the System
To keep your PC healthy and at good performance, it is important that you keep it updated with the latest service packs, security updates, and hotfixes released by the manufacturers of various software products, operating systems, and device drivers on your system. In addition to keeping your PC up-to-date, these updates also patch up any security lapses in the software products installed on your PC and help you fight several security threats.

Step 5: Clean the Hard Disk
To have a healthy system, it is important to have a clean hard disk with contiguous files stored on it. You can clean up the hard disk using the Disk Defragmenter tool. This tool enables you to perform several disk clean up tasks such as clean Internet Explorer files, empty Recycle Bin, get rid of unwanted program setup files, uninstall unwanted programs, and delete outdated system restore points. After cleaning up the disk, you must run the Disk Defragmenter tool to consolidate fragmented files and thus speed up your PC.
